Poetry: Moments In Grave By: Lateef Olalekan

It was a journey of a second,
where the soul was separated from the body.
I call it a journey of no return.
Either through a peaceful one or bloody.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

I couldn't stand the fear when the heavens gate was open.
My intestines got hot as though i was locked in an oven.
My heart began to beat faster far more than that of a kilometer runner.
"could this be where i would stay till eternal"
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

The drumbeat of the angels held a great resonance to me.
The inner peace i have always nurtured flee.
Voices of the tortured echoed from the underneath.
I got my knickers in a twist! and started wishing for another death.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Then i recalled i used to be a powerful man with so many slaves.
I used to attain my desires without no constraints.
I used to have the most precious treasures in my safes.
I used to live life without no complaints.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Then i woke up in fear and covered with sweats.
The Air conditioner was on but couldn't control the sweats
My brave guards were intact but couldn't save me from the horrible journey.
My accountants weren't on holiday but couldn't buy me out of the fearful journey.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Life is indeed short and worthless.
My moments in grave revealed to me why life is meaningless.
I got to know "no one will ever die flawless"
Only if the moguls can know "death is cheap though priceless"
