An
average Nigerian seems more keen about events than the causations, that
it is even easy to conclude how bad our generation has degenerated, as
students of history. In other words, nobody cares about the process like
the progress. Forgetting that everything has its formation stage which,
is a determinant factor in its development.
But
with our nonchalance at history, we gave up knowledge about procedures
for incessant errors. This might have occurred perhaps, in a bid to
expedite or manipulate some due process.
No wonder we are accustomed with several enigmatic phrases such as;
*'The
same rain responsible for housing and protecting the fish in the pond
is equally responsible for making it a prey in the pot.'*
The
above statement is undoubtedly a fact to behold but unfortunately, a
misleading impression. Because more ponderous thought will give room to
possible interpretations such as, 'Na condition make fish bend'.
Therefore
when your lover becomes really toxic, you will no longer long to see
her but try keeping a healthy distance. Its called CONDITION. Even in
contractual documents, there are clauses which could spark a change in
understanding. In the same vein, during adverts, one familiar phrase is
always that, terms and conditions are applied. This further places an
emphasis on the need to asses situations, and try to do away with the
familiarity syndrome when dealing with issues.
When
dealing with issues, we always tend to compare and not contrast, which
is too banal. You can not do it the same way for years and be expecting a
miracle. You want something different?
Try something new!
Once
upon a time, Malaria dissuaded the colonial outreach from Nigeria.
Today, the United Nations Organization longs to visit a malaria blazing
society with the hope of lending a helping hand. An issue of old fact
versus global trend.
Obviously, its two different ball games.
Imagine
a digital world with analogue thinkers. You find this set of people in
the remote areas of the world. They are still in shock by the realities
of the 21st century. They always go for the old lifestyle because to
them, Its evergreen. And that's not even as a result of nostalgia, they
are just backward.
I feel the previous
paragraph is a perfect one for anyone who is still puzzled about the
current state of Nigeria as the headquarters of poverty, land of crisis,
kidnapping, and the home of corruption, which automatically and
unanimously place us on the map, as the giant of underdevelopment.
The
truth is, when a society is too crude, it births and nurtures crooks.
And until this crudeness is crushed, our manual industries will continue
to outshine technology, our political structure will still be
duplicate, and we will always borrow to finance our budgets, even as our
cultural heritage is drifting.
Here is a
dependent state on paper and not by practice. I stand for a Nigeria with
difference. A state that will understand and utilize its rich
potentials. A country that will transit from copy cat to copyright.
A state where we can stand our ground, identify our problems by ourselves and solve them by ourselves.
The
Nigeria of my dream is a country that will shun division and embrace
unity. Where no one will truly be above the law. I desire a Nigeria
where I will not be judged by the size of my pocket but the content of
my character. A Nigeria where votes will count and promises will be
fulfilled. I dream of a digital Nigeria, where decision making will be
expedited. Where children will have free education and women will have
equal rights.
I truly dream of a country where
youths will regain their sanity and stop advocating for criminality.
Where the youths will rise up to responsibilities. Where I will be proud
to inspire with the pen, just as those who entertains with music,
comedy or acting.
May God make it possible. Amen.
