Poetry: Legs in the air By: Adeniji Abdulazeem

It was a beautiful flight mode that she didn't last in,
She hit the still but cold tide,
For a second it felt like a regular swim,
And the next it felt like a regular film,
A film of her life,
A life full of regrets,
Regrets that she could've amended,
If only she didn't take the dive.
It took her less than a second to realise her mistakes,
And arrive at a solution,
It's a little late now,
As she's in a battle with the once gentle tide,
A battle for her life,
Life that once seemed like it mattered to nobody,
Life that she so wanted to give up seconds ago,
She suddenly remember the little talks she always had with her sister Gamora,
"Ha Gamora!"
How dissapointed, how she'll hurt when she hears this,
"How she'll hate me when she finds out what I did"
Now the thought of those that'll miss her,
Those she'll miss,
Things she'll miss,
Her pet cat "Sally"
The annoying noise from the neighbor's generator, she doesn't mind it anymore,
The view of sunrise on the terrace,
The morning coffee on the way to work,
Loss of work that led to the loss of her home,
To the loss of her dignity,
To the Loss of love,
Love that doesn't matter right now,
Dignity she doesn't want right now,
All that matters now is her life
But all attempt became futile,
And slowly she losed the fight of her life to the gentle but fierce tide,
She could barely move her hands or take a breathe,
She's clinging on but the rope of hope is loose,
She closed her eyes and the rest felt like a dream,
A dream she never woke up from.
