Education: COMMUNITY SERVICE By: Abubakr Damilare[Maiyaki]

At times, we may need to look inwardly and catch a break from the norm. Since the general practice is to always point accusing fingers to the various poles of stakes available, one may then choose to be different.
Because sometimes, uniqueness could be the frontier that would trigger the deciding factor.
But the question of who dare pull the trigger becomes a notion of faith.

Unfortunately, advertently and otherwise, our society (Nigeria) had been reduced to a field for playing the bitter games of aspersions and aspirations. We often beguile one another on state issues, defend alter egos and promote innuendo. Thus we became callous  and carefree to the wailings of our noisy neighbours that so humongous, we lost our sacrosanct and personal values. And not until our pedigree appeared apparently contradictory to our national and international standards, we were since blinded by sheer hostility.

Whereas our struggling neighbours have massively progressed. So much that our giantry remarks was subdued by both internal crisis and external opportunists.
Alas ! We are now seen as dwarf among the committee of nations.

That is what you tend to derive from an unjust society. When the government at various levels hint on and cling more to interest in the affairs of the oppositions than public affairs, when the electoral process is seriously compromised that unfamiliar elements emerges against popular candidates, and the media peddles' fabrications for commercial gains, yet religious places becomes hideouts for miscreants, the judiciary becomes a mere cinema for flouting civil servants, politically elected individuals behoof on impunity, such a wayward society is undoubtedly in a state of 'theoretical anarchy'.

However the situation can be salvaged if only the corrupt system could be submerged. That is whence and whither  the state's adoption of strict adherence, 'wholly holly' or virtually so. Therefore propaganda will fizzle out, the myopic and incompetent leaders in government will subsequently lose momentum, then only shall the masses be free again.
That can be possible the moment people are ready to take the bull of community service by the horn.

All hands must then be on deck. For community service is more of a personal duty. It is beyond what you get paid to do. It is not about partisan politics but placing the national interest above all others. It is the only path to the much desired and anticipated promise land, the light at the end of the tunnel, and the truth that we must continue to preach to ourselves, rather than peddling hate speech and promoting religious bigotry.

We must rise to the occasion and become community servants. You need no interviews to become one, you need not consider the minimum wage to make a decision. Just make the 'Nigerian pledge' and make up your mind. Then you will make that major difference our Country needs to survive.
God bless Nigeria !🇳🇬
