Poetry: VANITY By: Arogundade Hikmah

How i wish i walk too far But my shoes won't heed How i wish i talk to all But my voice is never heard

How i wish i get it all But life never gives what it takes Infant struggling to crawl But the fear of dirt withholds him

Heads bent in sorrow Eyes filled with regret Heart full of guilt While conscience denies rest

Life at five I thought was like sugar Mind free of worry And lots of amazing memories

Life at fifteen Love was found Heart shattered Hatred was inevitable The world seems harsh

Life at twenty five Hopes high Dreams unrealized Then reality came to light

Life offer ten But collects seventy All seems tough, at half a century And struggles never stop

When the labour matures With wines on the table Journey ends! All in six feet mansion

Vanity upon vanity! I wish i walked a little farther I wish i got it all But life never gives what it takes
